Hi there, while this may not be considered the best photographic shot ever, the fact is your note adds so much to the feeling and emphasis of what it is we see.

This is no doubt a garden and a half - an amazing place - we see the intense feeling on the face.

In some way and the more I look into your shot, the more I see a brilliance.

    "Which stem is next?"

    "What flower to dead head?"

Actually, I shouldn't have been so critical because this is a really nice shot and perfect for Trek Earth. Do you know the species of of flower?

    Thanks for sharing..

    Hello Nicolas!

    How you doing?

I love this shot! I am not sure if it is a processing effect, but there is a wonderful scattering of coloured light that really sets this off. It is beautiful. I know the species of tree, and the way you have presented it here - like Medusa - is just great and puts a smile on my face :)

    Thank you.

It is a really good photo. But what is better is what you have accomplished in your story. By spreading your friend's photos of what goes on here you spread the word about exploitation. And that hits hard.

    Thanks for sharing your photography.

    Hello Bev... long time!

What a quirky place! Now just imagine for a second that everyone added some sort of quirk to their house, now wouldn't that be great?!

You walk round a corner and there you see some sort of small artwork about ants. The next turn you take and staring at you is a snake! You make an about turn and there is a bumblebee... do you see where I am going!?

Ok. Maybe somethings should be 'normal', but for every normal it is great to have a view out of the normal box!

I was in Angouleme in Bordeaux not long ago and the streets there have some amazing surreal art that pretty much pops out at you and makes you pleasantly surprised!

I know I would enjoy living opposite the house in your shot - if only to spend my day capturing the stares on the faces of the passers by - like you :)

Life is always better when someone has spent the time to make something special for others to see and enjoy and to speak about... and look, here we are!

    Nice.

    Casper ;)

Besides the note informing us of where this is and the history behind the place, this photography is all about the technicalities of shooting in a low light situation. Well, what you, Benny, present here is perfect. Balanced, excellently exposed, immaculate light even.... nothing easy to accomplish. And about the subject? Well, I had to do a double take!

But Benny, you totally nailed it.

Nice :) Hope you are keeping well.

So simple, and yet my senses are so very awakened!

A slice of life; a table of food.

The last time I ate gulas/gulash (sp?) must have been over 35 years ago when I was at my junior school. I can remember those meals - they were made by a short rotund (!) woman who had the most marvelous smile yet talked little English - and as the morning progressed the smell from her kitchen made me forget all about maths or history or friggin' Latin or whatever subject we were being taught, and fully concentrate on the aromas wafting down the school corridors straight into our classroom!

So, Pavle, please! Post a full recipe! You have taken me back decades and I need to eat this dish exactly as you have presented it here! I would be so grateful :)

Looking forward to this treat in due course ;)

    Very best wishes! Casper :-)

    Hello Abmdsudi,

Like you say: nothing fancy just a shot of a hard working woman and her child - which together, here, make up a 'human landscape'.

I would actually step back and say that you have something that is, admittedly not fancy, but rather 'clever'. For everything about your shot is about the direct contact that you have with these two people, the oof child looking straight at you, and smiling into your lens, and the lady doing exactly the same albeit with what appears to be a slight smile/scared look? (Although I doubt that she was scared in the sense of fearing you, more so the fact that it was a situation that she may have not experienced before..).

Whatever - framed perfectly by the child and the oof object to the bottom left - yet those eyes THOSE EYES staring, straight, back, at, you. Oh so brilliant. And cleverly composed in such a way so as to present your human landscape story.

It is a joy to see your pictures and to read your notes. Thank you.

Maybe it is the fact that I am a Westerner. Maybe it is the fact that I like to see faces that look like they could tell a million stories, on people who look like they have lived a thousand years. Maybe it is because I am a sucker for wrinkles; for skin folds; for misty eyes?

Actually, forget all that - I AM A SUCKER FOR EYES - as eyes tell a million stories. Most of them invented in our own minds, of course, but without anything more to go on it is the eyes that present those stories to us, in some sort of imaginary document, that we can read into and start to feel that we can unravel what it is that this amazing looking women has to tell us. And I am sure she has so much.

A perfectly captured photograph of a woman with amazing expressions written all over her face. Lovely :)

    Hello...

"nothing rosy about this fraction of a second snap", but you actually say so much, because your nicely composed shot - centered on her eye - immediately beckons the viewer to think about what she might be thinking, and those thoughts that she is having could range from the smallest of day dreams to the most infinite of mindful memories...

A great glimpse of an expression captured from a face that certainly looks like it could tell many an interesting tale, as you say...

I very much like your photo.

You know what? I would have been one of this lady's customers, because I love pigeons and anything that flys!

I see she is also sat on a bucket, but is it still full with corn to sell? And how much does she charge, do you know?

The wood pigeons in my garden now come up to me to eat peanuts; I have only lived here for a short while but already they feel happy to get very close...

Thank you for sharing this picture and your older b&w ones. Hopefully you may share more and include some pigeons!

What I like about this shot is that it is almost like a jigsaw, with many different segments to it, yet with a blending of horizontal, vertical, and curving lines. While it doesn't (to me at least) appear to be one of those classic pictures where you have a lead-in which leads you on to the next part, and then from there to the next part of the picture, what you do have is a mass of these jigsaw segments which fit so well together and provide so many different things to see in such a large yet tight space. There is so much going on, yet it appears 'so still'... even the bird is hovering and not going anywhere!

Like it - I like it a lot.

    Thanks for sharing :)

    Hello there..

I like the dynamism here, and the isolation of the walking legs amongst the shiny wet cobbled and paved street, full of lines and repetition. I suppose you could say that whilst perusing the many shots here on TE, this one stopped me in my tracks... sorry, my bad!

Nice shot though! Thanks for sharing.

10 years, wow! It sure has been a long time! The fact remains I know that if and when I log on here, there are stalwarts like yourself that keep the vibe alive. Posting great photos and interesting photos, time after time. I like how you reference Polonaise; as you know I like to take pictures of people and for me, he was the master. So much could be said of each and every shot of his, plus the way he critiqued was like no other; even if he had said my photo was shit, I was still glad to hear it!

Trek Earth beats almost any photo sharing forum for its layout. And part of what makes it great for me is that I get to post and see pictures amongst people such as yourself, Benny. So please keep sharing the goodness, my friend, because although I don't stop in here as much as I want to, it is still always enjoyable to see your pictures and to receive your critiques.

A BIG THANK YOU back to you, Benny :)

Take it easy mi amigo and keep posting :)
