TrekEarth is losing visitors

TrekEarth has experienced serious access problems for some time now. For me personally this means I have spent less time in TE, and that may be the case for most of the members.

Iíve had a look at the traffic statistics for TrekEarth, and I was a bit surprised since the numbers werenít as bad as one could fear.

Some facts:

Percent of global Internet users who visit TE is down by 13% over the last three months.

Traffic rank (as defined by Alexa, IB subsidiary) is down by 12% in the same period.

The number of unique pages viewed per user per day is down by 20%.

I have to emphasise this is overall visits including non-members.

The statistics also show that TE is more popular than average in Brazil, India and France and less popular in the US, but still 19% of all users come from US.

A significant dive of course, but as I say better than I expected.

Hi Pablo
Since two days, TE is working better for the access.
I have no project to quit
but the big problem is there is no communication from the new owners and no news about Adam.
Best regards.

If the stats are accurate then the recent problems could actually have a beneficial effect, with fewer images being posted. At least then we might have the opportunity to view a greater proportion of those posted.

From Adam's email, I seem to sense that he is handing over to IB guys and perhaps his disposal selling in the stake is near completion?

Global users down 13%
Traffic down 12%
Unique pages viewed per user per day down 20%
Wow, seems you enjoy being the messenger of bad news on both TrekEarth AND TrekLens!
We all know statistics can be twisted and turned to to show what we want to show.
You posted VERY negative statistics about TrekLens on your "abandoned" intro page as well.
I guess when some very respected member voices their displeasure of what they thought that a friend of yours was repeatedly posting a VERY young girl in suggestive poses (and I agreed with them), you'd shut down your account and immediately claim you were being attacked! It wasn't about you, it was about the young girl and how she shouldn't have been exploited on TrekLens. (he removed he photo in question)
That's another sad-soak story but what do you expect to accomplish by all the posting of statistics?
Is it some sort of psychological exercise that we don't understand?
The access problems are frustrating but if you had read Kevin Hayes' post (ibkevin), he explained why the site has been slow and unreliable. It's a large and complex database and it took longer than they had expected.
In a prior post he even apologized.
You made this forum thread after all of that?
You have benefited from TrekLens and TrekNature as much as anyone...with over 72,000 (yes 72,000) points on all three Trek sites combined.
Now, you take the opportunity to voice your displeasure?
What gives Pablo? Why are you so intent on making Internet Brands look bad?

Re: TrekEarth is losing visitors

Alexa - The Web Information Company Ė owned by Internet Brands, Inc publish web statistics on their site:

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/trekearth.com

This is plain simple statistics, easy for most to understand, have a look!

This is not about making someone look bad, my friend! This is the real world, and a question about cause and effect and a problem site admin should address seriously.

I have had a look before you posted the info on Trek Earth as you plastered some stats on your TL intro page.
Are you THAT adamant about it to have statistics on your intro page...even on another place predicting the demise of TL within 8-12 months.
I wasn't questioning the validity of the stats, after all, it's all in the interpretation of them, I question why you'd feel it was your responsibility to post them on a forum thread.

If you think they should address it directly perhaps you could mail it to them "directly" instead of in the forums....
Do you need the email address?

May I ask, what is your official status in the Trek system?

Oh, now I know that you are aware of the contact info:

Here, you give the info to someone....suggesting not to mention your name.

Now why would you not want your name mentioned?

Seems pretty devious to me...

Maybe this address is a better target for your complaints:

justine.cogan@internetbrands.com

Justine is Online Community Manager, Travel & Leisure, Internet Brands.

May suggest you donít mention my nameÖ

Greetings,
