The response they gave you is quite intriguing; I took a look at the photos of your gallery and IMHO most of them could suit Photoholik very well

The decision was made...4 against / 1 pro...but I don't know the reasoning behind it . If 5 people come to the conclusion to accept or not I think that is a fair number to make that judgement.
You can always try again later.
What images did you sellect for your porfolio?

Hi Steve,

I selected the latest pictures - the guy with the mask, the guy begging, the woman sleeping on the street, the blurred tram, and a classic b&w picture.

No wonder!!!

:-)

There was no point in sending my softest and sure-get-in photos only to be accepted and then get nuked allover. It's funny the show you a nuclear symbol if they don't like your picture. I could already picture my nickname in there - NUKE NUNO!

Nono,

Thanks for telling me your selection but I'm not going to comment on the decision made after seeing the images you selected. I'm only a member of Holik and have no insight on why they came to their conclusion.

What you just wrote about the nuke sign however is incorrect. That symbol is only very rarely used when the image doesn't meat the guidelines...here on TE some admin would just delete it (tell me wich is better?)

Hello Nuno,

I understand your frustration. I would share the same feeling.

PH it is a site where some photographers gather in one single place, share photos experience and comment other photos.

Like any so-called club, I would say there are some criteria for everyone to join in, this proper to PH. I'm sure you already encountedred this situation in your life and for other matters and life does not stop, hopefully.

Each photo sites have their proper rules:
- People a free to join TE but cannot go against the TOS, one may not like it, that's unfortunate, but that the rule.
- You can publish in Flickr, it's free but for limited quota per month, beyond you need to pay. That's the rule.
- You can publish in Pbase, but you have to pay a fee. That's the rule.

From my experience, I used to have hard time to get photo pass for major events because the event production prefers mass media photographers than freelance photographer. Does it mean I'm a bad photographer, non at all ! That's the rule !

You have been invited by a PH member to submit your photo to PH, because that member really like your works, this is a great recognition of your talent. As I said, PH has some rules.

Keep shooting and enjoy it, no matter where you post your photo !

Flick's stratgey is not about quality photo, it is about money.

However, if you take some time to browse some portfolios, you will be amazed by some very talented photographer ... humble photographers but quality photo with limited means.

Pardon my ignorance guys, but Ive a little question here.

How come moving from one site to another going to help one grow as a photographer.???

I mean, when youve your cam in hand and are ready to shoot, do you first decide where you are going to post it and then click???

Tough question???

Ok, lets rephrase it. Before pressing the button, do you even give it a thought whether you are going to display it or not. My guess is- No. You dont waste time in all that and simply click. IMHO, growth is in your mind, your eyes and your ability in not repeating yourself, not in the place where you are showcasing your work.

Someone please enlighten me. This concept of growth has bowled me over.

Cheers,
Darpan

aaah! Growth

we can grow
taller and smaller
bolder and older
wider and ......thinner
be a loser or winner
a populist sinner
experiment
degenerate
create our own world
aspire to the great

.....but at the end of the day
what we SEE
is what we get!

Sometimes growth gets confused with application!
