Photographer's Note

It was early morning on the bus that had taken me from Dongola to Abri, the heart of Nuba Country. At each village we stopped to drop people, regardless of the early hour, there would be a reception commitee to meet the disembarking passengers, usually family and friends who would have travelled for days.

This village elder was one of the commitee with his broad and welcoming face.
