Photographer's Note
‘Mumbai - 'King Shivaji Museum'’
Because of the large amount of work my new series has a slow start.
Also this year I was in Mumbai in the beginning and at the end of my trip. This time only for a short time.
The picture shows the King Shivaji Museum, officially the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya and formerly named the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India.
I visited it last year but now I have noticed that I have not shown a picture of it.
As this museum is located in the Mahatma Gandhi Road in Fort, a large avenue in the district where my hotel was, I passed it again and this time I show you a picture of it.
The building is built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, incorporating elements of other styles.
The museum houses approximately 50.000 artefacts of ancient Indian history as well as objects from foreign lands, categorized primarily into three sections: Art, Archaeology and Natural History.
On the foreground a sleeping Buddha.

Hallo Paul,

Hi Paul,a lot of work after the holidays...eheheh...it happens for me too sometimes. Beautiful capture, not only the statue mask but obviously a perfect capture of the museum building in background, great sharpness everywhere despite the different levels of perspective. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hallo Paul,
The Buddha head reminds me of Thailand but Buddha did come from the Nepalese Indian border region apparently. The bg building is interesting too. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hello Paul,
This was still the Prince of Wales Museum when I was first in Bombay (as I still stubbornly call the city). The present name is too complicated to memorize. Victoria terminus is also easy to say. I think I was inside this rather old-fashioned museum on my first visit, but I probably never saw it from this angle. At least I don't remember this beautiful Buddha head which you used very well as a foreground. I look foreword to your upcoming photos which may turn out to be a nostalgic trip for me.
Best regards,
Gert

Dag Paul,
Heel mooi foto werk, bedankt.
Prettige zondag verder,
John.

Ciao Paul

Hi Paul,
I was just wondering if it is supposed to be sleeping or it fell of a sitting Buddha but you answered this question :)
This looks quite exotic and indeed I am not sure if I would guess the location of this photo.
Great reportage, something new I learned about the world today :)

Hello Paul,
It looks like Buddha fell over! If he is in fact resting, he needs a more comfortable pillow. ;-) This is a wonderful combination of architecture and art, and I like all the natural colors, too.

Bonjour, cher Paul,

Hello Paul,
This is a most interesting photograph with a strong f/g feature and excellent b/g details, which sit together very well.
Although I like the sculpture of the sleeping Buddha, I found it a little disconcerting that it was separate from a body. Having got over that problem, I enjoyed observing all the lovely details that you have shown of a place that you love so well!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Dag Paul,
Groet Rob

Hi Paul
surprised not to see any WS photos! did you go to India on a tour or was it you planning everything each day? Just curious.
From the classic photography 'textbook' about composition, this one break many rules hahaha, but you know what, who cares right? If a scene captures your interest and passion, just go for it. Never seen this view before, and its a pretty cool "head" to view. Fun one. cheers

Hello Paul,
No doubt the imposing statue in its a skewed position is impressive, but to my humble opinion, you might had move 3 or 4 meters to right and capture more of the beautiful edifice and the garden on the background.
Anyway, it doe's look intriguing and interesting small heaven for photographers.
Good afternoon,

Amazing sculpture of Buddha, without your note we could think it is a woman with a gentle facial expression, a very nice photo with interesting building in the BG

Bela foto!

Hello Paul.
An excellent composition, with the beautiful head of the Buddha so reclined in the foreground, while in the background we see the magnificent museum building surrounded by palm trees.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Well done. I love.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
