Photographer's Note

Unfortunately the most beautiful Japanese castle in Himeji was in restauration in the time I was in Japan. So, I visited some other castles which were also beautiful. Here the castle in Karatsu. I went to Karatsu mainly to see festival Karatsu Kunchi but this small remote town was also worth visiting.
Karatsu is located on the island of Kyūshū . Its name signifies its historical importance as an ancient trading port between Japan with China and Korea.

Karatsu Castle, which stands beside Karatsu Bay, is unusual in that the stonework rises directly out of the water, using the ocean as a natural moat. One can visit the castle inside and there is a magnificent view from there on the town and the sea dotted with islands - see WS.
