Photographer's Note
This photo cost me five € !
Last day of our holiday we went for a little walk round the hotel and met some locals who offered us a ride on an elephant. None of us wanted to have a try, but we enjoyed to see and photograph one of the two elephants to be washed in the lake. We were invited to step in the water to make our photos more spectacular, but beeing fully dressed, we refused. The end of the story: No elephant ride, sorry, no posing with bathing elephant, sorry, but then please some money to keep the business going. I agreed, because why not support local small business? I had no rupies and paid in Euro, considering 5 € not too much for three people to be allowed to watch and take photos of a bathing elephant

Hello Elvira,
Don't worry that it costed you 5 Euro, it's much more worth than 5 Euro :-)
Very well captured with good pov and timing.
Very good sharpness and interesting notes.
TFS and best regards

Hello dear Elvira,
Ah, the wonders of digital cameras and the internet - here I can see exactly what you saw - and that costs me precisely nothing! :)
A fine note you have written - and I would have done the same as you - I don't like heights and I would not have wanted to ride on an elephant either. Nor would I have wanted to get into the water with one. They are wonderful creatures and I would be happy simply to admire them - and photograph them too.
This is a very fine photograph, very well captured and also very pleasingly composed - and I think those two pink flowers at bottom right just hold the image together remarkably well.
Lovely light, rich colours, perfect exposure and excellent detail and sharpness.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonjour Elvira,
Ils sont bien chanceux les éléphants dans cette région. Un bon bain matinal entouré de fleurs et un serviteur qui lui gratte le dos. Superbe cadrage bien précis.

Hi Elvira
lets hope these elephants are being taken care of in a respectful manner. I'm not a fan of elephants being used for 'rides' and such, they are often treated so poorly with poking sticks and whips...just horrible. Looks like this elephant is being treated with respect :) so thats good. fun photo and fun explanation of the events you went through. cheers

Lovely capture, Elvira. Both the man and the elephant seem to be enjoying themselves. Another fine shot from wonderful Sri Lanka.

Hi Elvira
there is a friendly link between the man and the elephant, they both have their morning bath together.
Cheers
