Photographer's Note

Yesterday, I attended a really fun event. Olympus and perhaps one of the local photography clubs sponsored a model shoot that was open to the public. This was something I have not done before, but really enjoyed. I could not believe the number of really high end cameras there. Hassy's, Leicas, Rollei MF, all sorts of higher end Canon and Nikon, both digital and film. The lenses........yikes!!! I saw for the first time the Canon 200mm f1.8, what a monster. Overall, 70-200 2.8 zooms were de rigeur on the 35 mm front, but I saw a number of 300mm f2.8s and even one 400mm f2.8 that I noticed. For a gearhead like me, it was just too much.

This guy however was a little more old school. Looks like he was using an old manual Minolta and a 50mm lens. From the look of it though, he was enjoying the shoot at least as much as those who had multiple thousands of dollars strapped around their neck. Probably got himself some better shots too, it isn't the equipment that matters after all.

For me though, digital couldn't have been more appropriate. I would have to take out a considerable loan to cover processing for my shots had I been shooting film ;)

ISO 200 @200mm focal length (man I love EXIF!)
