Photographer's Note

At a height of 1,800 ft (540 m) Laguna de Arenal is a lake covering 48 square miles (124 sq km). With Vulcan Arenal to the east it occupies a tectonic depression between Tilaran and the Cordillera de Guanacasta. The lake was formed in 1973 when the eastern end was dammed by the Costa Rican Electricity Company. (ICE Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad)

We had left La Fortuna by taxi to catch a boat across Laguna de Arenal for our next stop to visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest. The sky was very dramatic. I had difficulty deciding which shot to post, so there are two alternatives in the WS. here and here

The ND grad was a must I think. Very little PP. I resisted the temptation to brighten it up.
