The Great Guild was integrated by the merchants of the city and was created in the 13th century, monopolizing trade in Riga for centuries. The building that served as headquarters for the guild was rebuilt between 1853 and 1860. You can visit an old hall with symbols of Hanseatic cities and the nuptial hall where the children of the members spent their wedding night. Today it hosts concerts of the Philharmonic Oruqesta.

The Less Powerful Lesser Guild, emerged to promote the interests of German artisans in Riga. Its building with tower and spire is more attractive than its neighbor's. The Italian mosaic floor of the entrance stands out. The construction of the current building began between 1864 and 1866 and was completed after an interval of 20 years.
