Photographer's Note

And here we have a view of the village.
On the right, we can see some of the granite boulders we can find in the village, which are sometimes used as walls or roofs of the houses.
Situated in the region of Castelo Branco, not far from the Spanish border, Monsanto is a really beautiful village. Its houses are made of granite and the top of the Hill of Monsanto, where it's situated, is crowned by its powerful medieval castle, also made of granite.
In 1939, this village was considered the most Portuguese village of Portugal and the prize was a cock made of silver (a copy is placed at the top of the bell tower, in the village).
