Photographer's Note

when I was in Lisbon a few weeks ago the weather wasn't spectacular - an icy ocean wind was blowing all the time and frequent rain spells were marking my daily explorations of the city. when it wasn't raining however, the sun was shining high and bright and the light had a clarity I have not seen often even in Southern Europe.
I shot this picture in a cafe' in Chiado, in the center of Lisbon. I was waiting for the rain to stop and so was this gentleman. the nice thing about Lisbon is that wherever you go, there's always a cafe where you can stop to enjoy a good coffee and one of their delicious pastries, like for example the famous 'pasteis de Belem'.
