Photographer's Note

Click here to see the large version in the old (beta) site.

I almost forgot that it was eight years ago that I posted my first photo here (a horizontally inverted scanned slide 8-, so the next day I did my first repost with the correct version). I have been practically inactive since 2009, so I have been only active for about three years, but it feels good to be back, specially because, as I wrote five years ago, in this site we find an unique mix of healthy social interaction and discussion about photography that allows us to please ourselves sharing our photos and, by seeing what the others say about them, we evolve in our skills in a much more relaxed way than we could do in other photo sites where they value too much the technicalities. Most of what I wrote on previous occasions about my feelings about Trekearth (1, 2, 3, 4) still applies, despite I miss some of the old colleagues that already left but happily I keep in touch with many (perhaps most) of them, which is another evidence of the good social environment we have here.

I didn't do a careful or special selection to decide what I would post for this occasion. In my other "anniversary posts" I chose photos from Nepal, from the same trip of my first post. As I think that I already posted the few minimally decent scans of that trip, today I decided to break that tradition and also another one: because I always keep a huge backlog of photos to post-process, almost all my posts are from old photos, contrarily to this one, which was shot less than two weeks ago near where I leave.

About the photo:
This one was taken near the my my last post, a wine region some 40 km North of Lisbon, that is, a mere 30 minutes or so drive away from my home. Despite that proximity, I am far from knowing it well and I this is my first experience exploring it photographically.

The image is a stitch of two horizontal shots. The location on the map is from the POV and what you see stands East/North-East of it.
