Photographer's Note

Just north of Presov, quite near the Polish border, is the small town of Bardejov, famous for its highly decorated painted buildings. The tradition continues and many restored buildings have retained the original paint and plaster work. This was one of the more elaborate, though less well preserved ones. I like the way the spacing of the top row of windows is uneven, almost as if to accommodate the large mural. For the compo I debated for some time whether to crop the adjoining houses, and in the end decided that they work quite well as a frame.
