Like many words starting with al, Alcdia town name indicates its Arabic origin but Romans were here before. In fact, supposedly they arrived in Majorca from the north through the beaches of Alcudia. Present day name Alcudia is internationally rather associated with fantastic beaches which formally belong rather to Port d'Alcdia. Platja d'Alcdia is a beautiful 14 km long sandy blue flag beach with clean shallow waters, perfect for families. The old town, further away from the coast has some medieval wall preserved. One can make a nice walk along the upper part of the wall. This picture was taken from the wall. The church which you can see here is Esgl廥ia de Sant Jaume d'Alcdia.
