Photographer's Note

One of the indispensable visits in Istanbul is the Grand Bazaar, a magic place that any tourist cannot lose. During my first trip to that wonderful city, and while I was visiting the Grand Bazaar, in one of its thousands of shops I found this shop window with a beautifully handcrafted caps, with a few vivid colors and a nice graphical effect, which I tried to capture with my camera.
I hope you like.

Grand Bazaar of Istanbul (Kapali蓷rsi) is one of the biggest and ancient markets of the world. It is one of the best places of the city to do purchases of crafts, jewels and clothes.
The covered area where one finds the market has 45.000 square meters, and there works approximately 20.000 persons. The number of daily visitors ranges between the 300.000 and the 500.000 depending of the epoch.
The Grand Bazaar of Istanbul has more than 3.600 shops that are distributed in 64 streets. To accede to the enclosure there are 22 gates.
The origins of the Grand Bazaar go back to the epoch of Mehmed II, when in 1455 he constructed near his palace the former bazaar (Eski Bedesten). About this building they were installing craftsmen's workshops, forming trade-union streets.
With the pass of time the buildings grew in number and the streets were covered. Little later the whole complex was walled.
