Photographer's Note

The Iznik tiles of Rstem Pasha Mosque located close to the spice bazaar are magnificent. The interior and the ouside walls are covered with beautiful designed flower patterns. The mosque was designed by famous architect Mimar Sinan for Rstem Pasha, Grand Vizier and son-in-law of Suleyman the magnificent and it was built in the years 1561 to 1563. Unfortunately Rstem Pasha died in 1561, so he has not seen the mosque named after him.
On the picture you see an outside wall of the mosque. The mihrab to the right indicates the direction to Mecca for the believers praying on the courtyard, when the mosque is to crowded.
