Photographer's Note

In Vancouver city approximately 2200 people are homeless, about 100,000 are threatened of losing their homes.
Several hundred of them live around Main Street police station in between downtown and Chinatown where they are easily to see in the streets. (wikipedia.de)

This photo was taken on a walk from downtown to Chinatown as I turned my head to the left, seeing this lonely handicapped man.
His sad appearance exactly matched to what I thought about the street (and its smell).

Although I really enjoyed my stay in Vancouver and I was impressed of many beautiful places and houses there are as well less pittoresque corners.

Hopefully this picture reminds us - whereever we live - not to forget those people struggeling for life every day.

in this reposted version I
- slightly cropped the picture,
- added a layer to increase contrast
- sharpened it
and added a frame.
It is a mixture of the improvements in worldcitizens' workshop and my attempts in Photoshop CS.

I've chosen pretty hard contrasts (as it looks on my display) to underline the rough situation in the picture.

How do you like this version?

Thanks for looking,
Oliver
