Photographer's Note

Another shot from Moraine Lake, in Banff National Park. This is unusual because it was taken late in the day, just before the sun went down. Most photos of this place are taken in the morning, because the view across the lake to the mountains is looking southwest, so the afternoon usually has the sun right behind the mountains. In the summer the sun is setting far enough around that it actually shines on the face of the mountains again very late in the day, giving this view. The side of the mountains that is in shade most of the day finally gets some sun and really lights up the lake in an unusual way.
