Photographer's Note

Not a good photo, even by my low standards, but hopefully an interesting one. And the main reason why I even loaded it was because I came across a theme (Vancouver Reflections) which is, I must say, perfect for this photo (actually I have a few photos like this. I kept trying. I will post a couple of the perhaps lower-quality but more expressive photos in the workshop).

Anyway, I woke up in my hotel room the one morning and noticed that from where I was, the road and its reflection in the building across the street matched perfectly. It makes it look as though the otherwise-normal road crosses some sort of barrier or divide, and then continues in a wavy, surreal fashion after this divide. I tried to capture it when cars were going by, so that it looked like the car just disappeared into this divide, but was not very successful at this. Anyway, a bit of experimenting. As I say, not very good, but fitting for this theme. And please take a look at the workshop photos that I posted, which were taken earlier in the day when the light was duller and the reflection even more surreal, but because of the darkness, they are fuzzier.

It was very unstraight, so I straightened by the edge of the building and cropped that (which cut off the real image of the street at the bottom, which had some cars on it, but now all you can see is the carless-reflection), resized it, and sharpened it a bit. And added a border which was perhaps not the best design for this picture.
