Photographer's Note

Five men climb to the top of the pole that is up to 30 metres above ground. Four will throw themselves off their seat on the square frame that rotates around the axis of the pole. They are costumed in trousers and panels decorated with sequins and beads. They wear a colourful hat with flowers from which a long tassel flows. The risky job belongs to the musician who remains on top (the caporal - chief, foreman) until the very last, playing a small reed pipe and drum combo. I do not recall hearing him play a single note.
