Photographer's Note

The view that everyone on this site knows, even people who have never been to the Canadian Rockies. And about the only view anyone ever gets of Peyto Lake.

Actually, there are a couple of trails down to the lakeshore, allowing one the option of either walking along the shore or exploring the alluvial fan of the Peyto Glacier. But most visitors are, like we were, in a bit of a hurry to get from Banff to Jasper, or vice versa, and don't take the time to hike down to the lakeshore or to the glacier. So we all get the standard view here, as Henk likes to point out, standing on the little platform with all the tourists.

I had to post a shot of this lake eventually, because let's be honest, it's an incredibly beautiful view. Next time I visit it, however, I plan on getting a closer look.
