Photographer's Note
Maria island is just off the east coast of Tasmania (a 1/2 hour by ferry). It had 2 spells as a penal settlement for convicts in the first 1/2 of the 19th century. After that a few settlers farmed the arable parts. This cottage belonged to one of the last farmers on the island which is now a national park with no cars (you either walk or bike around). You have to take all your own food and drinks as nothing is sold on the island.
You can tell which way the wind blows!
The photo was on a very dry late summer day after a hot dry season.

Fantastic photo - As soon as I saw it in the recently added photos I new it was Australia before I read anything, and clicked on it because the framing looked so great. Then I realised saw it was yours!

Hi Ian,
Very Australian architecture and landscape. I love the way you have placed the trees in the image to frame the old house.

A perfect POV! The trees are beautifully covering the house. The colours are also very good and in a very pleasant harmony. This is a very good picture from a very attractive landscape. Beautiful!

Hello Ian,
pretty photo and nicely composed. The trees bent under some heavy wind contrast with the small house which seems to be on the contrary immovable. Nice landscape on the far horizon. Very good light and colors.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Ian,
The wind bent trees make a great framing device for the little dwelling, and they are something special as a subject in the shot in their own right. I like the contrasts between the deep blue of the sky and the beige yellow of the grass. One gets a sense of isolation and peace from your image.

What a beautiful shot, Ian ! I really like the way the leaning trees give a sense of movement and a dynamic effect to this otherwise peaceful and still image. The picture is well composed and has nice colours and lighting. The view combines just a few elements to produce something of beauty, and that's exactly where the magic lies ! Very well done.
Kind regards,
Christian

Hi Ian,
Haha, We can tell from where the wind blows! beautiful picture in wonderful colours. Splendid composition with the tiny house under the shelter of the trees.
I have just discovered your amazing gallery of the photos from Australia. They are beautiful and you were everywhere! I must look at them more carefully. Next month I go to Australia and I plan to visit some of these places.

Hi Ian
Jeez this looks familliar :) Looks like we were standing in almost the exact same position. The grass looks a lot drier and the place just that little more wind blown and unforgiving, no doubt due to the drought. A well-composed and attractive photo. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers

Hello Ian
The windblown trees are perfectly framing the house. Great composition - although I would have preferred more sky and less grass. Only in Australia. Tfs, Marlene

Hello Ian - I was about to comment on your red wheel shot when I saw this one which I really love. The curve of the trees is elegant and they frame the small house so perfectly. A super composition, subject and gorgeous colour. TFS and warm regards Rosemary

Hi Ian,
A well spotted location for a photo, with the two wonderful weather-beaten trees framing the little house. Great composition and sharpness. The place looks pretty dry, but the yellow grass contrasts nicely with the blue sky.
