Photographer's Note

Common Buzzards ((Buteo buteo) could be seen in the area along the Fyris River south of Uppsala throughout the year. Many Common Buzzards spend spring and summer in Sweden move to winter quarters in southwest Europe. There are two Common Buzzards residing in the area right now, both darker than this one. It is not unusal that some birds stay in the area the whole winter. The colours of Common Buzzards are highly variable from very dark to pale brown. This is a juvenile bird. Juveniles lack the distinct dark border on the tail tip that adults have and have streaked patches on the chest.
