This is something I really do like in Tokyo. These small narrow streets. This morning, in my street, I was looking at the different plants under the rain when I discovered a bicycle supporting lots of plants ! Your photo gives place to a lot of details, the vending machine, the futons... and focuses perfectly onto the end of the street : sure, if we turn as well on the right than on the left we will find the same narrow street...

Thanks for sharing your pictures, Koyama-sensei. During transportations from Tokyo to Kyoto, it is not rare to see some terasses like this near shizuoka / Hamamatsu. So I will have a question : the terasses we can see are rice or tea ? I have always had the question but nobody was able to give me any reply... You seem to be the good one.

I rate it because I appreciate your work. It shows how much Japan has changed since the Edo period but we can find some permanent things as well in architecture sometimes. Pizzas have replaced the noisy tea houses of Jippensha Ikku... Very japanese : look inside the house, there is a snow man (bonhomme de neige, I do not know in english, sorry / yuki daruma in japanese).

Please, continue to give us some rush about Tokaido. It is a pleasure to me. That would be interesting to reconstitue the whole road as it is nowadays in a kind of display.

It is always interesting to see how todays's architecture and urbanism take from the traditions of every country... Here, we can see todays houses very closed to the houses we can see in photos of the end of 19th century. Thanks for sharing what I like most in Japan.

This reminds me in NOV2004, when I was staying in Kyoto for 7 weeks... Light-up at Chion-in and Kyomizu-dera is one of my best memories... The private garden of Kyomizu-dera is marvelous... Thanks for sharing this colorfull shot, perfectly sharp.
