Hi Christophe, I was attracted to this photo because of the vibrant colors and one of my personal favorite subjects are butterflies on flowers. I would say that the photo is very well composed, and you did a fabulous job capturing the colors, but it does suffer a little due to the very shallow depth of field. I would have suggested using a smaller aperture. -calvin

I miss these too. Have they started taking them down recently? They are a historic part of the city. Great detail and framing. =)

Hi Brenda, Thanks for your comment/critique. I've passed through this area of NYC a few times, but I never knew the history behind it until I read your insightful note. You have a very interesting subject and excellent composition. I wonder if a little enhancement in PS might help...I'll try a workshop in a little bit. -calvin

I'm not so sure that I like the focus of photograph. You seem to be trying to capture the action of the man and the daily activity of life, but the man is out of focus. I think I would've preferred to see the detail of the man and what he is doing, than the detail in the gate.

great photo, david! i knew the koreans were crazy about their team, and i've heard of mass gatherings at bars and restaurants here in K-town in NYC, but this beats all of that! =)

Great detail in the description, and in the photo. I really enjoy the meadows and the portruding tree, which contrasts with the sky.

creat capture robert. i wouldn't worry about the sharpness...in fact, i prefer the way you've captured the movement in this photo.

great subject and composition. i particularly like how the lines drew my eyes in every which way through the photo...that is until they hit the smoke stack and the red opening.

Nice photo. Too bad there was no background to give it a little more dynamics. But it's an awesome picture and a very informative note.
