Hi Abie; I have to agree, the image could be a bit sharper, and I'd suggest maybe placing the horizon a bit lower in the frame to add more impact to the shot. The other thing to be careful of is the PP (post production) work you have done to darken the top part of the image. This is considered excessive PP and could result in the image being removed by the moderators. All the best, - Dan

I'm sorry, but if I'm being honest I have to disagree with all the other people who've critiqued this shot. The sky doesn't look natural, almost as though it's been copy and pasted into the shot. The overall shot is quite grainy and suffers from pixelation and there's a real lack of overall sharpness. Maybe from the process you went through to resize the image? I'd like to see the original and see if I can help... I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't honestly see the point in giving false praise where it does not belong. Sincerely, - Dan

Nice photo of my favorite city! I like your composition with the line of rocks leading the eye into the shot and towards the seawall. The only thing... your title of the posting and the title on the image are both wrongly spelt. It's 'Vancouver'. All the best, - Dan

Hi Matthew; I see what you were going for here, but I think you would have been better off using a graduated ND filter to darken up the sky giving you balance to the darker ground. The overall PP work with the HDR has given the image an unrealistic look with an unnatural halo around the barn. When it comes to PP work, the one rule of thumb I always try to live by is that it should not be noticeable. All the best, - Dan

Wow, great posting. Excellent contrast between the image and frame- well chosen. Sharp detail, natural colors and a good composition. Well done, - Dan

Hi Axel; I love whale watching when back home in BC. Looks like you were quite close. I might have tried to focus on the whale vs. the boat but easier said then done when bouncing around on the waves. The other thing which is fixable in post production is the horizon correction. For shots such as this with a very obvious horizon, it's really vital to ensure they're nice and level. Cheers, - Dan

Impressive building, but your shots a bit crooked and quite dark Rui. Kind Regards, - Dan

Not a bad shot, but your watermark is horrendous... - Dan

At first glance I thought nice sunset, then I realized that sunset would have not been this direction- ah yes... sunrise! Hahaha Really like this shot, great colors. I believe what you said about not having altered the colors or touched the saturation, but inadvertantly sometimes adjusting the contrast and blacks will sometimes have an effect on it. Just something I normally watch out for... ;-) Must have been a bit chilly that time of the morning? - Dan

Hi Craig; Yes, I'm a sucker for architectural shots too. Again it looks as though you fixed the keystoning here as well (which i appreciate). The only thing I find distracting are those darn powerlines which I might have been tempted to try cloning out. Just be careful with the saturation as the blues here are starting to look a bit overly 'neon'. Cheers, - Dan
