perhaps the strength in the photograph for me lies in the feet and the bit of the letter or whatever else she's reading.
you'e made the photo in way that i'm able to relate to it because of all the "apnapan" that you seemed to have poured into it.
feels very different to your mexico photographs because of the sheer amount of intimacy in it. and that too while maintaining a non intrusive distance with what's happening.

    hi evren,
    how've you been?
    this is a beautiful photograph.
    however i don't think she's selling flowers..
she seems to be asking for SHANIDAAN (donation to ward off the evil influence of saturn). this is because of the can she seems to be holding in her right hand as you find a lot of people including children doing at many of the road crossings and red lights in delhi on every SHANIVAAR (saturday).
    was it a saturday?
i'm curious about this photograph now
hey i've lost all the numbers on my phone as something went wrong with it. so please message me your number and let's catch up sometime.
    take care :)

    hi radeeh
    how are you?
i remember the camels and the lifeguards with the funny conical hats from this beach :)
is this beach the one closer to the lighthouse???
while you've captured one of the typical "landmarks" of puri, i think your photograph would be more effective if there was some context as well..
for example.. say... people.. children.. you find a lot of people eager to take camel rides..
i think that would add a feeling of in the photograph as far as the viewer's perspective is concerned.. because for me it can be a medium for one to relate one's feelings to the feelings in the photograph and therefore forming a sort of a bridge.
sorry about not replying to your discussion and critique.. my internet connection is not the fastest at the moment.. but no hard feelings this side so don't worry :)
    take care

    absolutely beautiful..
something that i'd expect only you to have taken.. actually strangely while you've dedicated it to peter.. i could have expected a blurry version of the same in a lithish pink or a cold black tone from him.

the quality of the highlights makes me feel that this is sterling paper that you've used.
i'd suggest that you try less contrast, burn the highlighted area in the middle, dodge the crowds and monkeys on top and at the bottom and burn the building and the sky more.

i don't mind irregular burns in the line of the burning on the right part of the sky, although i'd have burnt the region more to get atleast more of a hint of the building if i didn't want the building to come out totally.

however i'm quite repelled by the burning on thr left part of the sky. it's just too regular a blob of burnt paper for me. seems like you punched a little hole in a piece of paper and let the light from the enlarger fall into the photographic paper keeping the "burning paper" still in one place.

it also doesn't really feel like a 3/2 35mm format. feels a little short on the longer (vertical) side.. is that so??

the photograph is nice.. a little more of the shadows at the bottom would have definitely added a lot to the photograph, especially because there's a hint of them curving up towards the people. and yeah i think if you manage to bring out the building by burning the area for a longer time, it might make the perspective stronger.

i'm sure you're having alot of fun. contact luko. he'll give you some invaluable tips regarding printing
    take care :)

    unlike sabyasachi
i think this photograph has a wonderful warm feeling to it and not eerie..
the rendition of it "brings back memories"..
something that i usually don't see in the almost homogeneous tones of the usual digital photographs.. something for which i used to find in most of simon's work.. it never made me wish for it to be on film. it was really nice as it was.

your burning down the the lower edges to bring out the vignettes and also the warm light on the beach has a lot to do with it i think.

i do wish there was a little more happening with the people though..

but the atmosphere itself seems to make up for it

    actually kajal,
the yellow is extremely strong here and you don't really need sharp eyes to notice it..

    it's a really nice portrait..
but if you want to tell her story through her hands, i think your pp is working against your intentions here..

i'll try a workshop. this one is a little too flat for my liking

    very nice...
you have a gift for recognising light and spaces and you blend both of them beautifully in your work..
there is very 'comfortable' feeling in your work.. something that you usually only get to see in a body of work that's been worked up for years
