Hi Angshu,
Nice to hear from you. Just back from a Gaumukh-Tapovan trip. Yes, it's a real tough trek to reach Tapovan. The altitude is approximately 14640 ft. But as the place is just above Gangotri glacier, we experienced a shivering -10 degree in the night :).
But, the experience is really priceless! How can I forget the hospitality and the warm reception that we received from the Bangali Maataji living there for the past 18 years.
