Re: Basel and environs
Unfortunately I was ill most of the time (my hotel room was above a bar and I am allergic to cigarette smoke) -- but I did get to see a bit of Basel, as well as Mulhouse, and Turckheim in France and...

Basel and envrons
I expect to be in Basel June 28, 29 and 30, with access to a Kia Pikanto car (I gather that is a very small car :))
Any suggestions of where I should travel from there?
All suggestions greatly...

After 3 1/2 years, 394 points and over 200 favourites, you would like to see this removed?
May I ask what your problem is?

Hi Jean
Yes, I have been inside. The modern portion envelops the old so that one feel the dichotomy in places, since the exterior walls of the old are visible within the new -- an odd feeling, as if...

Re: Introduction
It's a good idea for all of us to check the "Welcome Gallery" now and then. That's where we can see who's new and they won't feel the need to introduce themselves here.

Is photography more than just captures?
I do think that there is more to photography than simple captures. The art for this site lies in being able to find the right angle for the right composition, the right light for the best colours,...

Sadly it won't take you long to explore his work -- there's not much that Bridges was able to rescue from oblivion. But I do hope you enjoy it.
I fell in love with Hopkins work when I first...

Hi John
Thanks for visiting
I have several shots of this scene and I really wanted the diners included so the railing had to stay.

HI Jean-Yves
Happy to hear from you!
To be honest, when I saw this fellow and went up to speak to him, I half-expected an American twng and was almost startled to hear a British accent :). That was...

Re: site for heavily photshopped photos
Hi Catherine
Indeed we do have a site for that. It's called TrekLens. That's the place for almost anything that doesn't fit on here and much that does.
Check it out some time -- it's interesting....

I am inclined to agree with you about introducing unreal colours. On the other hand, we do not know what the photographer him or herself saw. e.g: The grass I saw was a surprising bright...

Two years ago I took a digital imaging course in which the instructor made a number of good points about post processing. One that stuck with me is that our processing ideally brings out what we...

To macondo: Colmar is a must see
My pictures don't really do the city justice -- the time was too short and the sunshine/lighting even shorter.
Next time (if there is one) I think I'd take a room in town and spend a full 24 hours....
