Great efimoore 2005-01-29 17:28

Impressive night shot. I like the stars created by the line of lights.
Did you use an ND filter? What kind?

Thanks for the compliments :)
What I would like to try out is some night shots, but so far was not very successful. Every time I shot at night with long exposure the light does not seem like nice stars (as in your pictures) but as big bright spots that really ruins the picture.
I have been told that ND filter will solve this problem so I plan to buy one.
How did you manage a 30 sec exposure with out the lights ruining the shot?

Efi, I always select the smallest aperture (f22) and iso (200) this increase the exposure time. If Im not wrong your camera (Olympus C-5060) has the aperture range (f2.8 f8.0) and shutter speeds (1/4000 16 sec). Put the Olympus exposure control (EC) in (Aperture Priority) and select the smallest aperture f8.0. Do a couple of shots to see the results.

If youre not satisfied, put the EC in (Manual) and try this.
- Select the smallest aperture again :-) (f8.0)
- Put the metering system in (Multi-Pattern) mode.
- Select the lowest ISO (80) this may help you to reach the 16s

Thanks! Those are good tips.
I am also going to buy the filters and next month plan to practice on some night shots.
