Hi Angshu
yes!!!!!!
We want to go here!
We are planning to visit Leh...i read your note, but i still wonder how easy or hard it is to find this Monastery?
are there local private taxi drivers that we could hire to take us here from Leh??? I know many tourists hire private taxi drivers to take them around.
looking at your shot, i want to see this!!!
wicked place, so much history, so much mystery too.
the photo itself may be a bit over contrasted but to be honest, i don't really care. The subject is just so amazing by itself in any condition.
wonderful post! This makes me want to travel to Leh right now.
beauty
cheers
craig
Also...do you recommend flying to Leh from Delhi? or taking a taxi? bus?
If we fly, are we going to miss the natural mountain beauty? flying sounds good because it cuts down on travel time...what do you think?

Hi Craig!
First & foremost, there are lots of tourist taxis which can take you to this & lots of other very interesting monasteries & lakes...How long do you plan to stay in Ladakh? 5 days should be ideal I can provide you with the guide cum car guy's name & contact who accompanied us & we were extremely satisfied... In fact he's in my FB contact list. How do you reach Leh? You can fly from Delhi...but the day you reach (morning), you need to have complete bed rest, otherwise you will surely get altitude sickness. Some people equire 48 hours as well & this sickness can be very acute. Alternate routes - 1) road from Srinagar through Kargil --> very scenic...takes around 1-2 days 2) road from Manali to Leh --> 2 days with one overnight stop If you take the road, you gain altitude slowly and hence will not be susceptable to altitude sickness when you reach Ladakh Cheers Angshu |
