Lovely lead into the gompa, now i can relate to this structure from ones in morocco. They are called "Kasbahs". The concept is the same, the design is different. Man has evolved quite similarity, even at the remote corner, at the edge of africa, they decided to build the same things on mountain tops.

...indeed so....the sun had managed to sneak in through the crack in the clouds ...it was behind me as I stood...and the light was falling on the gompa...quite divine! As you well know weather is so fickle here...there were blue skies barely an hour back
