Great maurajn 2005-03-17 21:57

Surprisingly lush, and rather homogenous vegetation, which is to say, not a lot of varied types when looking from a distance, but I assume up close, it is more diverse. Excellent write up too! 4 more sleeps and I'll be there taking it all in! Yahoo!

Default To maurajn: Mojave

Maura,
The deserts are uncommonly lush now, and while there are quite a few varieties of plants, each area seems to have a concentration of just a few.
I'm excited for you guys, really looking forward to seeing your photos, and hearing where you end up going, and I would love to hear about your experiences when you get back!

And, on top of all that, yesterday, my new accessories arrived by mail for my camera! You can probably appreciate how slow commerce can be up here! I bought a teleconverter, a wide angle converter, a UV filter and a polarizing filter. And, an interesting box that goes over the camera and makes it waterproof to 40 m! I don't expect to use that on this trip except maybe to avoid sand getting into it. On top of the vacation fun, I get to see my daughter tomorrow who I haven't seen since Xmas!

Great time to experiment with all the new accessories while traveling - you cut that delivery very close! I don't have any accessories for my digital, what I would like is a polarizing filter, I loved the one on my A-1 and used it all the time. And waterproof housing would be lots of fun.
Wow I thought your daughter lived in Iqaluit, makes sense though that she would be going to school elsewhere -- have a wonderful trip!
