Cool shot! I think in fact I actually was in this cave once back in 1993...the location and name are so familiar, and I spent that weekend in the Shenandoah Mountains with friends. Thanks for the journey back! I didn't have a camera with me on that trip. (Have you heard of Gooney Lodge, is it nearby?)

Hi Maura, thanks for the critique. Well I Googled that Gooney Lodge and apparently its near Browntown which isn't far from Front Royal. It's probably the same place you visited. There's also Luray Caverns which is about a 30 minute drive south of these caverns.

I'll have to get back to Virginia for longer someday. That first trip in '93 was just a few weeks after my first marriage broke up and who knows where my head was, and then when I was in Bethesda in '03 I was just in and out, didn't tour around or anything. Although it was a tense time to be around the capital, just days before the last Gulf War started. I'm always amazed by the incredible tracts of diverse wilderness in the US despite the monumental poplulation. I flew over the Appalacians once, flying from Chicago to Miami on a clear day, astounding forests, and landscapes.
