Great milloup 2004-02-25 6:13

One of my favourite places, too, and it seems the weather hasn't changed much in the past 17 years either ;-)). I'm not so familiar with the view from the harbour side, and I can't find any of my "anchoring points". Please, which direction's the casino, and which way is Salamanca Place?

Default To milloup: The casino...

If I remember right, the casino is around a point off to the left a ways. I dont remember Salamanca Place by name. There is a large shopping area on the right in the direction of the crane and the Cadbury factory is over some hills off to the right. The weather wasn't as bad as it seemed in the photo. It was mostly just threatening.

Thanks for the explanation. I think I get it now. Went and dug out my old street map of Hobart, and if I'm not mistaken, Salamanca Place is somewhere behind the green building, running on the same alignment. This would fit in with the trees in the middle being either part of the Parliament House area or the St David's Park (which is in fact an old cementery, quiet and quaint). This would all fit if you were shooting from somewhere in Sulivans Cove - see map:

There's a good photo of Salamanca Place here - you may well have taken some of your delicious meals there ;-)

We stayed in a hotel in Murray Street while we were there. In my recollection the weather was a mixture of sun and overcast with lowhanging clouds like in your photo - but not much rain.
