Night ? Why 8 sec.?
was it shot by night ? why 8 seconds if by day ?

It was shot during the day in bright sunlight. The reason the exposure was 8 seconds is that it was shot through an infra red filter which are very dark and require long exposures, even in the strongest sunlight.
