Great emka 2022-01-22 3:02

he Gert, The quality is not so bad. Better than some new pictures here. Nice mountainous landscape.
I have got an offer of the journey to Iraq, to see all the interesting places, like Baghdad, Mosul, Babylon and many more. They say, now it is possible and safe. This journey is very expensive, but they give advice on how to travel. If not Covid, who knows??

Best regrads MAlgo

Default To emka: safe?

Thank you Malgo,
Who is trying to tell you that Iraq is safe?

https://wikitravel.org/en/Iraq
https://www.travelsafe-abroad.com/iraq/
https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/des...ddle-east/iraq
https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-ad...y-and-security

If you are really so desperate to reach 100 countries you should go on a cruise between the small island states in the Caribbean Sea. It will also be very expensive but much safer. And Covid is everywhere.
Have a nice weekend,
Gert

Hi Gert,

I do not say I am going there. And I am always interested in concrete places and not that it is an n-th country, on the contrary to what you think. I have subscribed to various travels blogs and they send me something constantly. I was very surprised that the travels to Iraq are organized. I would like to see Babylon, for sure, but most probably it will not be possible for me.
With the raising covid rate it is difficult to plan anything. It doesn't mean that I do not look at the various flights.
The cruise in the Caribbean doesn't interest me. I dream about the Volga cruise but after covid.

have a nice afternoon.

Malgo

Hi Malgo

I'd look at Mongolia. Like Italy and Greece, it is a country most people would like to go back to a 2nd or 3rd time. Turtle Rock, Lake Hovsgol and the South Gobi Desert are fascinating places to visit. And the Gobi was no where near as hot as the Sahara, only about 30c in June. Vultures Beak Gorge and Dinosaur Valley were interesting. It is bitterly cold in winter though.

Hi Gert and Chris,

I would like to go to Mongolia but I have no idea how to move around there.
I have quite concrete other plans but now the situation with Omikron is too difficult. So instead of travelling, I am working.

Best regards MAlgo

Default Getting around

Hi Malgo

https://www.lonelyplanet.com/mongoli...getting-around

I came in by train from Beijing to Ulan Bator. I applied for a Mongolian visa in Beijing which took a week so I went to Xian to see the terracotta warriors while I waited. I exited by train from Ulan Bator to Irkutsk. There were some pick pockets in Ulan Bator which was not safe at night but okay in the daytime. I applied for a Russian Visa in UB and it was ready to pick up when I got back from the Gobi. Good info here too:
