Great belido 2009-12-10 9:51

Hi Kristaps,

an old and abandoned industrial area but still a nice place for photographing. Very nice abstractism you saw on the water reflection. Love the combination of the orange and red colors. I also find quite interesting the image in the ws. Can you guess what would happen if this scenario is in Brazil? I tell you, it would be full of people, poor people. And then smart ones would start to commercialize the lots. Interesting note as well, sad story about Holyoke. Great one!

Default To belido: cold winters...

hola Carlos

thanks for stopping by, friend. as to the abandoned industrial spaces, i bet, the only thing that stops them being populated the same way as in Brazil is the weather. you have to heat them in winter here... I believe, in Southern California you could find something like what you describe though.

as to this particular place, Kristine and I were discussing what would happen if it was closer to a big urban center such as Boston or New York. it would surely be recreational area with restaurants and galleries taking over the brick buildings by the canals.

artists are actually moving in, because the rent is much lower in Holyoke than anywhere in Western Mass. however, the place is too remote for serious recreational business to move in.
