Great daddo 2013-09-25 4:25

Hi Ken. A colourful shot and revealing in its vertical format of the flyers so high. I presume they are waiting for no5 and the musician is playing his flute here. The question I have is whether the rotation is aided by the men as they throw themselves at a forward angle or is that yellow rope somehow unwinding? is this an Inca ceremony that still survives? So may questions and I haven't even complimented you on the composition, exposure etc. Regards. Klaudio.

From one guide book, I am told that this originated in central Mexico and was being performed in Guatemala before the Spanish arrived. Two groups of dancers, "monkeys" and "angels", climb two by two to the top. They throw themselves off the top, with one foot attached to the rope. As the rope unfurls, it causes the "canasta" to rotate. More updates and photos (six in total) from tomorrow.
