Great ifege 2020-01-20 19:31

Hi Chris
Good photo of the old fella with good background info.

Now about the smoke. Yes the reports gave all the smoke to Sydney, Canberra and more recently Melbourne they have missed the Southern Highlands where there are no air quality monitors but I can tell you that for half the days in the last 2 months visibility has been only 100 metres that equates to many times "hazardous" levels. We've had fires close to the north west and south of us so our air quality been as bad or worse than the big cities.
Were you affected by the floods up your way?

Default To ifege: Fire & Rain

Hi Ian

Sounds like the entire south eastern seaboard of Australia is covered in smoke. Brisbane just had 3 days of it luckily with Beijing type air quality. All the flooding rain storms were on the Gold Coast, but all rain is welcome. Brisbane only got a little over 640 mm rain last year, about what Melbourne normally gets. Average is 1145 mm. 2nd driest year on record in BNE since 1902 with 406 mm. We have been getting good storm rains since Christmas Eve. The ground is so dry that dams only rose 1%. Hope more rain is on the way.
