I came across a few of these little birds in the Royal Enclosure in Gondar. The red-cheeked cordon bleu finch is pretty common in the drier parts of sub-Saharan Africa.

I have never seen this bird before but would love to encounter it; it is beautiful!
It's colours are striking and your photograph has captured these, along with the lovely textures of its plumage.
It looks very pensive!

A fine example of shallow dof.

Beautiful view of this little bird. Mix of colours is quite special. Especially brick red on the cheek catches my attention. You have a good low angle.

Splendid shot. I saw these little jewels in Tanzania but couldn't get close enough with my zoom 400. I presume it allowed you to get fairly close. My compliments.
