Christmas in Lalibela, a photo from Amara, North

Photographer's Note

The Christmas morning wake in Lalibela. Tens of thousands of pilgrims, as well as some tourists, descend on the town annually. Crowded but extremely interesting, with lots of prayer activity, singing and dancing in the streets, and other forms of popular celebration. A friend noted that this looks just like it may have been at the time of Christ - minus a phone light or two :)
