Photographer's Note
Always Morocco, but this time from my first of three trips to this country. A cold night in March, walking around alone with my friend, in the alleys of Marrakech practically deserted and oblivious to the dangers, perhaps a little naive, perhaps too brave, but honestly I had no problem and it was a unique experience.

Hi Luciano
this is like "darkness on the edge of Town" by Springsteen haha. this is where deals go down in the dark of the night, mysterious encounters :) You have been here 3 times...is it because of the beaches? I know you are a beach person.
wonderful atmosphere and lighting, good depth too. love the colors. cheers

Bonsoir Luciano,

Lerant that Morocco is not such a danger to tourists, even Israeli tourists, Luciano.
Night walk through old town is an intriguing advanture, well descibed by your note.
Buona giornata,

Hello Luciano,
The two persons seen near the end of the alley create an interesting atmosphere, with the assistance of the artificial light and the traditional architecture. Maybe it could have been dangerous to come here, although you were not alone, but I would probably feel less safe in dark alleys late at night in Milano or Stockholm.
Thanks for your comments on my latest photo. There are cemeteries next to practically all Swedish churches, including in city centers, and this has been the custom since Christianity arrived here more than 1000 years ago. But of course the space is limited, so the very big cemeteries are located on the outskirts of towns or in less populated areas.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Luciano,
A great night shot of this narrow and almost deserted (but for the silhouette in the distance) alleyway. The warm tones are nice and you caught the textures of the walls also very well.

Hi Luciano,
I did not have any problems with cold as I was there in August, but I did get my shirt pocket ripped by some drunk lurking in the shadows by the taxi rank near the main square at 4 am. He didn't get anything and I swore loudly at him and threatened to throw my suitcase at him if he came near me again! I had a domestic flight to Casablanca around 6:30 am so I had to leave the square early. And a connecting international flight from Casablanca back to Istanbul around midday. So not a good start to my day that day. Tfs. I like the warm colours and perspective. Tfs!

Ciao Caro Luciano,
It was interesting to read your notes and learn that you were perfectly safe exploring the city at night, for your photograph feels both mysterious and a little sinister. Even your camera could be an attractive target for a thief!
Despite the restricted light you have been able to create a very well composed photograph, full of depth and showing strong, textural details.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Luciano.
A wonderful perspective of this old street with that succession of arches, very beautiful the effect of it at night, I would not have gone out if it was not in a group, the country does not give me confidence.
Very well managed both the brightness and the sharpness of the image.
Nice work. That we enjoy.
Have a nice day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

the golden mood of the compo is magical and the presence of the man ahead is fantastic. I presume your local fried would know as to cross these areas. as in india, morocco is a a kind of place where people use the speech to take advantages from you, in places like mexico and brazil the guns are present.
take care

Ciao Luciano,
last week I read local news. One of the places next to the riverside which I visited few times for blue hour photos was mentioned in news: a 40 year old man was raped there in the evening after dark...
This is something what I didn't even consider. I usually more worry that somebody may be after my camera when I walk around alone after dark.
Great spot here. Very atmpospheric mood.
Excellent final effect,
M

Hello Luciano,
So in March the nights were still cold in Marrakech.
I've been there once in July and later once in April. In April the temperature was very good.
In terms of safety, there was a big difference between my first trip in 1981 and the second in 2011. I don't have fond memories of my first trip. Thirty years later, much had changed for the benefit and safety of the traveller.
You present us a wonderful night scene of an attractive oriental city with a lot of covered parts of the street.
The colour of the illumination is adding a lot to the atmosphere. This is how the red city looks like at night.
Best regards, Paul

Ciao Luciano
This alley maybe looks a little bit ominous, with the lonely silhouetted figure in the middle distance but I would say, for me, it feels more appealing and mysterious than dangerous. I would certainly do what you did - go for a walk and take photos! You came back with a wonderful graphic image, the play of light and shadow is so atmospheric.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hi Luciano
Is Marrakech such a unique city? Black civilization in southern Africa, Arab civilization, Egyptian civilization, and Roman civilization are all mixed together, and the architecture is also phenomenal. I really want to travel to a city like Oasis in the Sahara sometime.

Hello Luciano, It looks rather spooky and scary, so deserted. I am not sure if I would be brave to go there. I was in Marrakesch thirty years ago, my first trip out of Europe, and people were afraid of everything. When I was for the second time later, I went freely with no fear.
Excellent composition.

Great photo!
I am also a fan of night walks in the cities I visit. Admittedly, it is different in countries like Morocco. Two years ago, I paid for my courage with the attack in Durban in RSA, but fortunately, except that I was left without a phone, it passed harmlessly!

Hello Luciano
Beautiful view of this alley at night. I also like walking in these secluded alleys. Yes it was a good experience. Clarity and exposure are well done. With respect ...
