The white koubba

On the square at the foot the Koutoubia minaret, the famous Marrakech landmark, is a small white good-looking building. Its a koubba or qubba, i.e. a domed mausoleum/shrine. Its the tomb of Fatima Zohra, the daughter of a seventeenth-century religious leader. Tradition has it that she was a woman by day and a white dove by night. Apparently, women still dedicate their children to her in the belief that her blessing will protect them. Photo taken during a pause in a sunny morning walk, watching the passers-by going to work and other small events of the daily life.
