Photographer's Note
Also posted on TrekNature. These two colourful Grasshoppers were quite happy for me to get up close and personal to them whilst they got on with their main purpose in life.
Found in the grasslands next to the coast in The Transkei area of South Africa (where Nelson Mandela grew up).

Hello, Matthew -
Stunning "action" shot; the colors of these grasshoppers are so vibrant and varied -- I've never seen such a palette of colors like this on an insect before. Amazing sharp macro detail. Very unique and interesting capture.

Hi Matthew,
How colourful grasshoppers! I've never seen. The pop colour is very conspicuous in the green grass like an artistic toy or something.
A marvelous shot with beautiful colour and the appropriate depth of field.
Have a nice day, Hisashi

Hello Matthew,
when I have seen these horny grashoppers I was immediately thinking about the FIFA World Cup in South Africa and the former England Captain John Terry. ;-) Sorry, I'm only kidding. The most important thing in this World Cup will be that the games are going to be peaceful and the total of attendances of different nationalities enjoy it TOGETHER. In the sense of Nelson Mandela, for South Africa, the whole African Continent and maybe the whole world.
You have captured these grashoppers with fantastic colours, fine details and good DOF. Very well done.
Best wishes,
Helmut

Hello Matthew
They got dressed of thier nicer getups to woo each-other!
Fortunately, they will have descendants to perpetuate such a beautiful and rare species.
Cheers.
