Photographer's Note

Driving through the interior of the Western Cape you come across farms and hamlets like McGregor.

The original Dutch settlers started what is today known as the "Cape Dutch" architectural style:

White-washed houses with thatched roofs, sash-windows painted in deep green, brown or red, small chimneys with a round top or lollypop-spyral shapes, aloes and other hardy plants in the gardens.

These sights have inspired many of today's world-renowned South African artists like de Jongh, David Botha, Charle-Pierre Naud etc.
