Photographer's Note

Big cats have their own specific way to hunt. We already saw that leopards bring their preys in trees after the kill (see Langue de chat
for more details). Cheetahs proceed in a quite different manner, owing to their musculature, designed for sprint races (up to 80km/h on short distances). However, this musculature is fragile and they have to spare it in order to survive. As a matter of fact, hyenas wander and have the know-how to quickly detect a kill . Their jaws are so powerful that cheetahs know perfectly that they cannot afford being injured and therefore would give away their meal without fighting. Accordingly, they eat as quickly as possible with gluttony and end within less than one hour with the stomach like a rugby ball.
