Photographer's Note
Conques-sur-Orbiel (Aude, Languedoc, south of France).
This 2245 inhabitants little town is located about 9 km north from Carcassonne.
The place has grown up at the XIIth century, on a little mount. It has been protected by walls at the XIIIth.
But the city was pillaged and burnt at the XVth by a spanish troops ledby the captain Rodrigues de Villendras.
The XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries are the peak of the place thanks to sheet factories which made the wealth of the Carcassonne area.
Nowadays, we can still see a part of the castle, the church but the walls were destroyed for a circular road.
anyway, it remains this ancient door (XVth) wich allows to enter the old town. The Virgin was set on the top in 1945.

Hello Yannis,

Alain
