Bachalpsee, a photo from Bern, West

Photographer's Note

Bachalpsee or Bachsee is a lake with an area of 8.06 ha (19.9 acres) close to the First (which can be reached with a cable car) above Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. The lake, located at an elevation of 2,265 m (7,431 ft), is split by a natural dam, the smaller part of the lake being 6 m (20 ft) lower.

Lake Bachalpsee can be reached from First on foot in less than an hour.

czessc Piotrze, Wysoko położony ten alpejski staw. Ale jak czytam, nietrudno sie tasm dostać. Tylko godzina i wygodna droga. A w tym domu to co jest?

Hello Piotr,
A high terrain lake formed by melting snow and ice, beautifully situated between the mountains.
At this altitude we do not see trees, only green weed and grass.

Hello Piotr,
A very nice view of the lake below the green hills and a small hut on the side. Even in July some snow remains on the slope. You probably enjoyed fresh air on that hike.

This is a fine exposure, revealing the contrasting details of grassland, mountains and water clearly.
Your composition is excellent!
The hut is placed strongly in the frame, and the ratios of land/sky adhere to thirds.

What is the purpose of the hut?

Hi Piotr,
It is a great looking little mountain lake. On this shot it looks bigger that on the map. There's still some snow next to the lake, and there must be really lot of it in the winter. I have visited Grindelwald several times, but not this mountain ridge above it.

A beautiful view of the mountain and the small, calm lake. The composition is perfectly balanced between the two main features and the small house is also well included. The colours are pleasant and natural.

Piotr, the walkers can have a break on this altitude lake shores. Some ice didn t melt in summer. There is a wooden cabin closed near the lake. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.
